Costello’s Ace Hardware to Celebrate Grand Re-Opening in Appomattox

Costello’s Ace Hardware of Appomattox will celebrate its grand re-opening June 26 through June 28, marking the completion of a full remodel and conversion of the longtime local hardware store at 7194 Richmond Highway.

A formal ribbon and board-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 26, at noon.

Costello’s Ace Hardware acquired the former Appomattox True Value in April 2025, continuing the legacy of a local hardware business that dates back as early as 1913. For generations, the store has served Appomattox homeowners, contractors, businesses and families with hardware, home improvement supplies and local customer service.

Under the ownership of Mark Malkiewicz beginning in 1996, the store became known for its helpful service and community commitment. Since the acquisition, Costello’s has converted the location into Costello’s Ace Hardware of Appomattox, completed a full remodel and introduced Ace Hardware Corporation’s modern E3 Elevate store layout.

The refreshed store is intended to provide a more open and updated shopping experience while preserving the familiar local service customers have counted on for years.

“This store has been part of Appomattox for generations, and we are honored to continue that legacy as Costello’s Ace Hardware of Appomattox,” said Mike Costello, CEO of Costello’s Ace Hardware. “This remodel is our way of reinvesting in the store, the team, and the community. Customers will continue to see familiar faces, while also experiencing expanded product lines, trusted brands, and a refreshed shopping environment.”

The store now features expanded product lines from brands including Benjamin Moore, Milwaukee, DeWalt, Craftsman, Weber, Traeger, Big Green Egg, Blackstone, YETI, Scotts, EGO Power Plus, ECHO and others. Departments include paint, tools, hardware, lawn and garden, outdoor power equipment, grills and barbecue supplies, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, home goods and seasonal products.

The Appomattox store is led by Store Manager Jonathan Moore, who has been part of the store team for several years.

“This store means a lot to Appomattox, and it means a lot to our team,” Moore said. “We are excited for customers to come in, see the improvements, and experience the same helpful service they have always counted on. We are ready to serve local homeowners, contractors, businesses, and families for many years to come.”

Costello’s is inviting local officials, civic leaders, community representatives, business owners, neighbors and longtime customers to attend the grand re-opening weekend.

The weekend celebration will include special offers, doorbuster deals, daily giveaways, enter-to-win prizes, a free Benjamin Moore paint sample offer and Ace Rewards member savings.

The first 100 customers on Friday, June 26, will receive a free YETI Rambler Mug. The first 100 customers on Saturday, June 27, will receive a free $25 Ace gift card. The first 100 customers on Sunday, June 28, will receive a free Scrub Daddy Brush. Raffle prizes will be drawn Sunday, June 28, at 4 p.m.

Business customers may also sign up for a free Ace business account and receive a free gift package during the grand re-opening. Costello’s Commercial Sales Team will be available to discuss services including jobsite delivery, bulk pricing, everyday pro discounts, product sourcing and expanded product access.
